Job Description

The Quality and Food Safety (QSF) Function is an important role to drive and deliver a world class quality program by driving the right Quality KPI’S, defining the right systems and structures in place and building a capability program. Reporting to the Business Lead for Indonesia Cocoa Plant and functionally reporting to the Regional Manufacturing Head and QFS lead for Asia Pacific, the incumbent will oversee the Quality Assurance (QA) and Laboratory Department and be responsible for QFS for the Indonesia Cocoa Processing Site.

Responsibilities

  • Drive continuous improvement in the Quality Management Program for Indonesia plant, driving year on year improvement in Right First Time and reduce Non-Quality Costs.
  • Align and deploy Best Practices to ensure 100% compliance to the Global Best Practice programs.
  • Identify the risk and opportunity for the department to align with the company’s overall vision and objective for continuous improvement.
  • Participate in the Regional QFS Leadership Team meetings and the Global Cocoa QFS Meetings as the voice of Indonesia Cocoa plant
  • Align with the global QFS strategic plan and distill to the QFS local site plan.
  • Escalate issues through the Regional Manufacturing & QFS Team and the Global Cocoa Platform Team.
  • Develop, implement, and control procedures, systems and programs to support an effective quality assurance capability.
  • Improve the existing food safety plan in compliance with FSSC22000 Standards and Company Quality Policy, and drive CAPA’s to meet excellent Site Audit Performance.
  • Develop and implement quality related systems such as SAP and Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) as part of the control procedures for incoming, in process and finished goods.
  • Direct and control the activities of the QFS dept to ensure that they are consistent and compatible with upholding quality standards and continuous quality improvement objectives at optimum cost.
  • Establish and maintain effective liaisons with all internal depts, external suppliers and customers.
  • Align with the global vendor management program for auditing and approval of suppliers. Drive compliance across the business
  • Manage quality problems or conflicts and enquiries so support their resolution and drive quality improvements.
  • Use Customer Complaints and internal quality incidents to complete effective RCA & CAPA with a multifunctional team. Effectively communicate recommendations to the business.
  • Supervise, motivate, develop and appraise subordinates to derive optimal performances.
  • Represent the Company in professional services, trade meetings, exhibitions and customer visits to ensure that the company is kept abreast of and remains at the forefront of quality developments.
  • Prepare budgets to align with company KPI. Initiate, encourage and implement lean activities that lead to reduce overall cost and improve cost effectiveness.

Requirements

  • Relevant Qualification: Bachelor’s degree in food technology, food Science, microbiology or other relevant qualifications with 12 – 15 years of Quality leadership experience in a food / ingredient manufacturing industry
  • Quality Leadership: Ability to drive changes in processes, procedures and systems as well as in behavior, always with quality improvements in mind.
  • Motivating others: Ability to inspire and coach direct reports and peers around you and build a highly engaged team
  • Building effective teams: A leader who is capable of inspiring and defining the right capabilities and ways of working to build and strengthen the team.
  • Drive for Results: Consistently maintains high levels of productivity, drives change, pursues everything with energy, drive and a need to finish.
  • Problem solving: Identifies and understand issues, asks the right questions and
  • makes decisions to take actions that lead to solutions to the real problems, and able to work under pressure.
  • Stakeholder management: Understanding the need of other key internal and external stakeholders to drive common purpose and resolutions
  • Clear communication skills: Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal. English language proficiency is must.
