The Role
As the Country HR Manager Spain, you will lead and execute the full People Strategy across multiple sites (Palencia, Villamuriel, Madrid and Valencia), ensuring alignment with ofi corporate priorities and EU regional strategy.
This role is a key member of the Spain leadership team, acting as a strategic partner to the General Manager, Country Finance and site leadership, driving business performance through people, organizational effectiveness and culture.
You will have full ownership of the HR agenda across Spain, combining strategic leadership with strong operational execution. A critical focus of the role is the management of Woks Councils and labor relations, ensuring effective negotiation, compliance with Spanish labor law, and a constructive social climate.
The role leads a team of HR professionals (HR Manager Valencia, Payroll Admin, HR Generalists) and ensures consistent HR governance, standards and processes across all locations.
This is a highly visible role within ofi, requiring close collaboration with EU HR and global functions, contributing to regional initiatives and driving continuous improvement across the country.
Key Deliverables
- Define and deliver the People Strategy for Spain, aligned with business objectives, ofi corporate direction and EMENA priorities
- Act as a trusted advisor to business leadership, influencing strategic decisions and organizational effectiveness
- Lead and manage Works Council relationships and collective bargaining, ensuring compliance and strong labor relations across all sites
- Drive organizational design, workforce planning and transformation initiatives to support business efficiency
- Ensure full compliance with Spanish labor law, internal policies and external audit requirements (social, ESG, compensation, PRL, BRC/IFS)
- Build and lead a high performing HR team, ensuring consistent HR delivery, governance and talent development across Spain
Strategic Effectiveness
- Define and deliver the People Strategy for Spain, aligned with ofi corporate priorities and EU regional direction
- Act as a strategic advisor to the country leadership team, influencing business decisions through people’s insights, workforce planning and organizational design
- Lead organizational design and transformation initiatives across all sites to support business growth and efficiency
- Drive talent strategy, succession planning and leadership development, ensuring a strong pipeline of future leaders
- Champion performance culture and employee engagement, aligning people practices with business objectives
- Represent Spain in EU and global HR forums, contributing to regional and global HR initiatives
- Ensure alignment of culture, leadership behaviors and people practices with ofi values and corporate standards
- Lead and manage Works Council relationships and collective bargaining processes, ensuring business stability.
Operational Effectiveness
- Ensure efficient and consistent HR operations across all sites, including payroll, contracts, employee lifecycle processes and HR systems
- Oversee payroll governance, employment contracts and compliance with statutory and corporate requirements
- Ensure full compliance with Spanish labor law, ofi corporate policies and regulatory frameworks
- Lead internal and external audits, including social, ESG, compensation, PRL and BRC/IFS requirements
- Drive recruitment, onboarding and workforce planning processes, ensuring the attraction and retention of key talent
- Oversee performance management processes, ensuring consistency, fairness and alignment with business objectives
- Ensure compliance with EU Pay Transparency and reward governance frameworks, in line with ofi standards
- Monitor and manage HR KPIs and operational performance, identifying risks and driving corrective actions
- Oversee third-party providers and general services, ensuring quality, cost efficiency and compliance
Organizational Effectiveness
- Build and lead a high-performing HR team, fostering capability development, accountability and continuous improvement
- Ensure consistent HR governance, policies and practices across all locations in Spain
- Strengthening employee engagement and organizational climate, proactively addressing workforce challenges
- Support leaders in developing strong management and leadership capabilities
- Drive a culture of performance, collaboration and continuous improvement across all sites
- Ensure compliance with health & safety (PRL), employee wellbeing and workplace standards
- Lead and support the implementation of equality, diversity and inclusion frameworks, including equality plans
- Promote and embed a culture of quality, food safety and compliance aligned with BRC/IFS and GMP standards
Candidate Profile
- Bachelor degree with proven experience in a senior HR leadership role, ideally within an industrial or manufacturing environment
- Strong and demonstrable experience in labor relations and Works Council management, including collective bargaining and negotiation
- In-depth knowledge of Spanish labor law and regulatory frameworks, with the ability to manage complex employee relations topics
- Experience leading multi-site HR operations, ensuring consistency, governance and alignment across different locations
- Solid expertise in core HR processes, including payroll, contracts, employee lifecycle, compensation and benefits, and HR systems
- Demonstrated experience in leading audits and compliance frameworks, including social audits, ESG, PRL (health & safety), BRC/IFS and related standards
- Experience driving talent management, succession planning, performance management and employee engagement initiatives
- Ability to operate at both strategic and operational levels, balancing business priorities with HR excellence
