About the role

We are seeking a highly skilled Climate Analyst to join our Climate Action team, managing, analysing and leveraging complex data sets, developing expertise and insights to drive positive impact in our business. . This role focuses on Monitoring, Reporting and Verification (MRV) systems for Global Climate & Sustainability projects across the cocoa, coffee, dairy, nuts, spices that we source from origins around the world as well as product ingredients developed in our manufacturing and food innovation businesses. You will be managing and analysing field data from multiple countries, climate action projects and farmer groups as well as global databases to support data-driven decisions and reporting and supporting value creation for ofi as well as positive outcomes for food systems. By joining our dynamic team, you will actively contribute to our mission and projects, supporting more than 2.5 million Farmers, Farmer Groups, Tech teams and Customers.

 

Main Responsibilities

  •   Analyse, interpret and transform large climate-related datasets into easily communicable and digestible information using graphics, qualitative ratings, and geospatial map visualisations.
  • Integrate business metrics and data with climate change data to deliver business impact projections under different scenarios and identify effective risk-reduction measures.
  • Communicate and consult internal clients on the key results, helping them integrate climate knowledge into their risk frameworks and decision-making processes.
  • Developing and upselling our in-house interactive climate risk platform to clients via providing insights and later gaining feedback on the customer-experience.
  • Curate and integrate several ofi data sources and input it into automatized sustainability models workflows, such as deforestation risk mapping, protected area analysis, polygon quality control, land use change analysis, greenhouse gas emission accounting, farmer archetype analysis, biodiversity, and ecosystem services assessments. 

Expected priorities in the first year:

 In this role you will support the Climate Action Manager with data handling and model development to report on Carbon, Environmental and Impact Corporate Reporting and automate mitigation plans.  

  • Construct a workflow and standard operational procedure for environmental tailored reports. Including Carbon Stock on and off-farm (Based on Satellite monitoring and Ground Truth data). 
  • Deliver supply chain tailored reports on environmental variables, specially, greenhouse gas emissions, (customer, country, products, single keeping unit-SKU)
  • Construct analysis and statistical reports for material areas such as: Environmental Baselines (For all dimensions, especially carbon) and Risks. 
  • Build inventory of greenhouse gas integrating multiple department data (Shipping, Sales, Processing, Procurement). 
  • Support forecasting carbon emissions aligned to corporate roadmaps.
  • Greenhouse gas emission data quality assessment and improvement.
  • Support Carbon Scenario Planner implementation and tailored action plans for decarbonisation and mitigation.  

Qualifications

  • Expertise in agriculture, agribusiness, environmental assessment.
  • Data Analyst with minimum postgraduate level education (master's or PhD) in a related field.  
  • Minimum of 3-6 years of hands-on experience in data analysis, data visualization, and managing large and mixed databases.
  • Proficiency in one or multiple programming languages, such as/including R, Python, others. 
  • Strong knowledge of descriptive, inference and exploratory statistics with large, multivariate, and mixed datasets (Tabular, others). Proficiency in data visualization and reporting (e.g., with Shiny, Leaflet, Power BI). 
  • Knowledge of GIS and spatial analysis (raster and vector data) and usage of spatial datasets (Raster/Vector). 
  • Knowledge of Life Cycle Assessment Principals based on ISO 14000, WBCSD PACT (Partnership for Carbon Transparency), IPCC, and corporate reporting.
