Category Manager - Energy & Utilities

This role is instrumental in building procurement function at ofi. You will lead the procurement of Energy & Utilities shaping and implementing strategy on European and MENA scale.

You will drive greenfield projects closely collaborating with other ofi functions defining addressable spend, sourcing strategy, driving cost optimization, spend consolidation and implementing transformational solutions within this Energy & Utilities spend area. You will need to be able to identify key market conditions, regulations, and market structures to help evaluate potential savings opportunities.

To succeed in this role excellent project management skills and exceptional stakeholders management skills are instrumental.  

We are looking for the person with “hands on” attitude, holistic approach to building strategies, decent attention to details and perfect change management skills.

Some of your focus areas will include:

  • Proactive involvement in sourcing and risk management for electricity, natural gas, fuel, CO2 certificates, capacity, and guarantees of origin;
  • Support the development and execution of a comprehensive energy and utilities strategy within the region;
  • Analysis of trends and regulations in the energy space to proactively identify opportunities that benefit ofi;
  • Volumes consolidation across the region;
  • Energy supply contracts management;
  • Coordination with energy management advisor;.
  • Develop strategies to capture movement in energy markets to identify cost savings opportunities;
  • PPA business case study and implementation;
  • Renewable energy sourcing initiatives management (thermal, solar, electricity, etc.);
  • Market exposure risk reduction initiatives;
  • Procurement support and leadership on onsite energy generation projects;

  • Energy suppliers due-diligence;
  • Provide regular price & market intelligence to the business, as well as hedging recommendations;
  • Identify risks and opportunities for each of the countries in scope based on country specifics and enable action plans;
  • Coordinate with local stakeholders execution of processes related to procurement of energy (PO, IR, invoice validation);
  • Support the building of energy budgets and update forecasts according to internal processes;
  • Conduct regular cross-functional meetings to exchange information with country group leaders and managers;
  • Support execution of defined internal controls for the countries in scope;
  • Drive appropriate relationships with category suppliers, with a principal objective of achieving the optimal solution and cost of ownership that meets the business’ goals supported by a culture of continuous improvement with performance benchmarks in use.

 

Initially your scope will include 7 sites across Europe expanding further into EMENA/EMEA region starting from 2023.

 

While Energy & Utilities will be you major focus area, you may also be leading External Manufacturing procurement developing and implementing best in class contract- and sourcing strategy to manage the relationships with our copackers.

About you

  • Master’s degree;
  • At least 5 years of procurement work experience;
  • Energy procurement experience is a must;
  • Expertise in contract legislation and contracts negotiations;
  • Demonstrable track record of success in managing complex projects and developing procurement practices;
  • Excellent command of english is required. Additional language skills are desirable;
  • Result driven personality;
  • Excellent interpersonal, business acumen, communication and supplier relationship management skills;
  • Team player;

Location

The Netherlands, Amsterdam with a possibility to work from home few days a week.
