The Role

In this role you will be responsible for identifying drivers of farm and factory productivity to develop tools and recommendations that can be used to improve farm and factory developments. To this end, the candidate will mine Olam’s farm databases to support productivity and to produce models to improve efficiency and implement process in the factory. The productivity manager will support Olam Cocoa’s Business Unit and Sustainability to ensure the development and sharing of knowledge internally and externally and the improvement and deployment of internal digital platforms and tools. From Plant Sciences, this position will work with origin production and factory teams, sustainability customers, industry stakeholders and research institutions to accelerate the use of result-based learning to drive performance and enable evidence-based decision making.
 

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Head of Plant Science, your responsibilities will include:

  • Coordinate the analysis of farm production and factory data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement
  • Identify the main drivers of cocoa productivity for different farming systems based on external knowledge and internal data and expertise
  • Define and review key performance indicators in relation with sustainable farming, farm productivity and profitability
  • Issue recommendations to improve farm practices, follow and improve farm development plans in order to drive adoption of improved practices
  • Help identify, test, and implement impactful plant science innovations to implement at farm or factory based on the modelling of experimental data of the Origin, Sustainability, Plant Science and R&D teams
  • Support knowledge creation, sharing and learning of internal lessons learnt and best practices across origins and programmes
  • Work with relevant external research and industry bodies to support communication and alignment and represent Olam in relevant forums and conferences.

The candidate

Our perfect candidate:

  • PhD in in agriculture, modelling or remote sensing with a minimum of 5 years of experience on modelling and data science
  • Knowledge of database management and web-based tool development based in R (or other languages)
  • Self-motivated, autonomus, result driven
  • Costumer-oriented
  • Project management skills
  • Advanced communication skills
  • Strong ability to work in a diverse a cross-functional teams
  • Natural / Fluent English, French preferred
