The Role

As Automation (MES) Engineer you are responsible for the maintenance, support, improvement/expansion within the set framework of the present process automation systems on ISA95 3 (MES - AVEVA) and co-operating with our DCS Engineers ISA95 2 (DCS - ABB). Supervising, coordinating or executing the realisation, within time and budgeted costs, within the set requirements and regulations, taking into account the HR-policy, as well as the safety, quality, energy and environmental policies.

Responsibilties

  • Investigating - from the process automation discipline - the possibilities regarding new construction, adjustments, expansions or improvement of the automated systems for process control and management, making proposals and advising management
  • Monitoring consistency and coherence of the AVEVA MES software
  • Paying attention to operational aspects of installations to be built, whereby a good balance must exist between investment and expected operational costs
  • Developing approved project assignments into a functional design in AVEVA MES, technical specifications, planning, preconditions and programmes of requirements
  • Preparing outsourcing, conducting commercial talks and making commercial and technical agreements with third parties in consultation with operational staff from the Technical Department and Production.
  • Managing and/or cooperating in the physical realisation of (multidisciplinary) projects by coordinating, supervising and controlling the activities of the project team
  • Managing the allocated budgets
  • Taking care of the purchase of control equipment, software and services related to process automation projects
  • Reporting and discussing deviations and problems with the supervisor and other stakeholders
  • Preparing and taking care of the implementation of systems
  • Provide adequate information and documentation for all departments involved
  • Supervising acceptance tests as a member of the start-up team
  • Assisting with complex malfunctions and software maintenance of process control systems

Personal Requirements

  • A technical education at least at Bachelor level
  • 5 -10 years’ experience with process automation and production processes
  • Knowledge of complex process control systems, relationship with logistics and management systems
  • Functional implementation experience with Manufacturing Execution System MES package (preferably Wonderware/Aveva/Momentum)
  • Familiar with project management techniques
  • Read and speak English
  • Knowledge of the food industry
  • Understanding of DCS structure and ways of communication via OPC UA/DA
  • Familiarity with industry standards, such as ANSI/ISA-95 and ANSI/ISA-88
  • Analytical, enterprising, communicative and able to think strategically and conceptually.
