About the role
We are seeking a results-driven and detail-oriented Deputy Finance Manager to support our finance operations at our Tanzania farm. This role is critical in ensuring financial integrity, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, analytical acumen, and a passion for continuous improvement in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Financial Operations and Reporting
- Oversee all accounting functions, ensuring compliance with applicable accounting standards and timely month-end closings.
- Lead the preparation of accurate financial statements and corporate reports, including coordination of external audits.
- Manage tax planning and compliance, ensuring adherence to local and international tax regulations while identifying opportunities for optimization.
- Prepare and present financial reports, forecasts, and performance analyses to support strategic decision-making.
- Supervise cash flow management, foreign exchange operations, and banking relationships.
- Monitor production costs and ensure alignment with financial goals and budgets.
- Ensure full compliance with legal, regulatory, and statutory requirements.
Process Improvement and Controls
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance financial systems and reporting accuracy.
- Collaborate with auditors and internal teams to ensure smooth audit processes.
- Review and monitor supplier account reconciliations and procurement-related financial controls.
Team Leadership
- Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing finance team.
- Foster a culture of accountability, inclusivity, and continuous learning.
- Align team objectives with broader organizational goals and values.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. CA/CPA certification is a strong advantage.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in finance, controlling, or accounting, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Experience in a manufacturing or agricultural environment is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of finance and controlling processes, business data flows, and ERP systems.
- Proficiency in IFRS and generally accepted accounting principles.
- Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently and thrive in remote or rural settings.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Technologically adept with experience in financial software and reporting tools.
