Internship Sustainability Project Manager - Waste Valorization & Carbon Dioxide Removals

Background of the Internship
At ofi, we are committed to driving positive change for a sustainable food future. We are constantly exploring innovative avenues to enhance our business while contributing to a healthier planet. In this specific project, we're focusing on creating a circular economy by efficiently utilizing our by-products.
The objective is to map waste streams across our global sites and develop a roadmap to maximize their climate and economic impact. We need to identify our resources, optimize their utilization, and understand the potential benefits. A key focus of this project is exploring cutting-edge carbon dioxide removal technologies, including bio-char and direct air capture. Throughout this assignment, you will lead the way in identifying, initiating, and managing pilot projects related to Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR).
The Internship
This initiative encompasses the entire portfolio, covering cocoa, coffee, dairy, nuts, and spices, with a global reach. Expect to collaborate with internal stakeholders and external service providers and industry experts.
Deliverables:
- Secure sponsor and stakeholder alignment and define the project scope.
- Create heatmap highlighting areas of concern and opportunity.
- Develop an internal communication to educate our colleagues on CDR technologies and opportunities.
- Craft a roadmap for project implementation and initiate individual project scopes.
- Consolidate the roadmap into a comprehensive business case, including benefit and risk assessment, recommended approaches, and estimated budget requirements.
- Manage two biochar projects in Zambia and Australia from the Netherlands
A minimum of 5 months, with a preference for full-time commitment. You will have the flexibility to work both from home and our Amsterdam-Duivendrecht office.
The Candidate
- A dedicated and ambitious Bachelor/ Master student.
- Proficient in collecting, analyzing and processing data.
- A passion for sustainability and circular economy, with a deep understanding of key drivers.
- Familiarity with carbon dioxide removal technologies.
- Proven experience in project management.
- A proactive, problem-solving mindset.
- Self-Starter wo can work autonomously.
- Committed to meeting deadlines with a sense of urgency.
- Good English communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Collaborative approach to work, driving results despite competing priorities.
- Flexible and adaptive, ready to pivot when necessary to achieve project success.
