Role Overview
The Internal Auditor – Quality Assurance will focus on providing independent assessment and assurance over production and engineering-related processes, including quality management systems, health & safety (HSE), GMP compliance, ISO standards, environmental sustainability, and plant operational controls. This role requires close collaboration with manufacturing, engineering, quality, and HSE teams to evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of operational controls.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and conduct internal audits of production facilities, quality laboratories, and engineering controls across multiple geographies.
- Assess plant-level compliance with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), ISO standards (e.g., 9001, 14001, 45001), and Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) requirements.
- Review and test process controls related to product quality, hygiene, line clearance, traceability, and preventive maintenance.
- Evaluate the robustness of plant certifications, licenses, and regulatory compliance processes.
- Identify control gaps, root causes, and opportunities for continuous improvement, including automation and data-driven monitoring.
- Prepare high-quality audit reports summarizing key findings, risk implications, and practical recommendations.
- Partner with site management to agree on remediation actions and follow up on their implementation.
- Support integrated audits combining operational, financial, and compliance perspectives.
- Provide insights to strengthen global policies and standards related to Quality Assurance and Safety.
Key Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of quality systems, food safety standards, and manufacturing operations.
- Working knowledge of ISO, HACCP, BRC, FSSC and related food industry standards.
- Experience in auditing engineering, maintenance, and production processes.
- Familiarity with Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) standards and risk management frameworks.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and the ability to interpret complex data.
- Ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders at plant and corporate levels.
- Proactive, curious, and collaborative mindset – able to work across diverse teams and cultural contexts.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Food Technology, Quality Management, or a related field.
- 8–10 years of relevant experience in Quality Assurance, Plant Operations, or Internal Audit within the food manufacturing or FMCG sector.
- Professional certifications such as Lead Auditor (ISO 9001, ISO 22000, FSSC 22000), NEBOSH, or CIA/CRMA.
- Global or multi-site audit exposure is desirable.
- Willingness to travel frequently (up to 40–50%) to plant locations across regions.
