Job Description

Olam Food Ingredients, a leading global food processing company, is seeking an experienced Engineering Program Manager to join their dynamic team. Reporting directly to Senior VP Global Procurement and the Global Engineering Head, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing and coordinating the execution of engineering, digital and sustainability strategy cross the organization.


In this role you'll be acting as an expert on all energy related topics 50/50 divided over energy procurement and engineering projects. In your position as Global Procurement Manager for the Energy category, you will analyze our spendings and usage of different energy sources, and identify opportunities resulting in improved sustainability, energy efficiency and/or lower business costs.
You will be joining the global Engineering team, where you will jointly be working towards implementation of these solutions.

Your responsibilities include:

Global Procurement Category Manager - Energy

  • Developing and executing global sourcing strategies for energy commodities, such as electricity, natural gas, and renewable energy.
  • You will work closely with internal stakeholders, such as operations, engineering, finance, and sustainability, to understand their energy needs and identify opportunities for cost savings, risk mitigation, and environmental impact reduction.
  • You will also manage relationships with external suppliers, negotiate contracts, monitor market trends, and ensure compliance with regulatory and contractual obligations.
  • Develop and implement global energy procurement strategies that align with the company's business objectives and sustainability goals.
  • Analyze energy consumption patterns, demand forecasts, market dynamics, and supplier capabilities to identify sourcing opportunities and risks.
  • Lead the end-to-end sourcing process, including supplier selection, contract negotiation, contract management, and performance evaluation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and integration of energy procurement activities with operational and financial plans.
  • Track and report on key performance indicators, such as cost savings, energy efficiency, carbon footprint, and supplier diversity.

Global Engineering Program Manager

  • Serve as the primary point of contact between the Global Engineering team and cross-functional stakeholders, effectively communicating project status, risks, and mitigation strategies.
  • Provide regular updates and reports to the Global Head of Engineering and other key stakeholders, highlighting project performance, milestones, and key achievements.
  • Maintain projects data base through project management tools and techniques to track progress.
  • Identify project risks and escalate to Global head of Engineering for mitigating actions and follow up on implementing corrective actions to keep projects on track.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams, subject matter experts, and external vendors to ensure the successful integration of new technologies, processes, and equipment.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement within the engineering team.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of engineering strategic initiatives that align with the operations overall business objectives.


Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Project Management, Energy Management or a related field; PMI certification will be added advantage.

  • Minimum 7-10 years of experience in Energy Procurement, Program/Project management role, preferably in the food processing or manufacturing industry.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of energy markets, regulations, contracts, and risk management.
  • Excellent project management skills, including the ability to develop and execute project plans, manage budgets, and track progress.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Excellent data analysis, problem-solving, negotiation skills, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time.
