Position Overview

The Data Lead is responsible for overseeing the data collection management processes, ensuring data quality, and providing strategic direction for data collection-related projects. This role involves collaborating with various departments to leverage data for business insights and decision-making.
 

Key Responsibilities

  • Data Strategy: Develop and implement data collection strategies that align with business goals.
  • Data Management: Oversee data collection, cleaning, storage, and integration processes.
  • Data Collection Tooling: Ensure data collection tools meet business needs and ensure tool users get adequate training. 
  • Data Quality: Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and reliability through ensuring data collection tools are smart. 
  • Data Sampling: Ensure data sampling is for purpose and meets all business needs. 
  • Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of data analysts.
  • Project Management: Manage data projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely delivery.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with stakeholders to understand their data needs and provide solutions.
  • Reporting: Generate reports and dashboards to visualize data insights.
  • Compliance: Ensure data compliance with regulations. 

Requirements

Qualifications & Experience 

  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in data management or a related role. Experience working in origin leading data collection programmes. Experience of managing a small effective team.
  • Skills: Proficiency in data modelling, SQL, and data visualization tools. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge: Understanding of the agri-food sector and related sustainability topics. Experience of working with metrics with proven capability to reverse engineer related data needs for optimal data collection while appreciating the bigger picture.
