(INTERIM) Nutrition & Health, and Engagement Expert

Unit Overview

Nutrition and Health and engagement expert  is a key member of the Social Sustainability Team which is part of the Sustainability Center of Excellence within ofi.

This Unit works with ofi businesses and their customers to drive positive impact by helping to improve the livelihoods of farmers through better economic opportunity and education & skills; support Human Rights by promoting child friendly supply chains, and helping communities to thrive through better health & nutrition, and gender empowerment.  This is achieved by identifying sustainability risks, opportunities, innovations, particularly in high-risk sourcing countries across Africa, Asia and South America, and then designing and implementing strategies, policies, sustainability pathways and tools to mitigate and remediate. The team also provides guidance and promotes alignment and cross-learnings across products. Sometimes the team will also coordination and programme management to support ofi buisnesses globally.The Social Sustainability team collaborates closely with the Environmental Sustainability team, and product-platfroms sustainablity teams to implementation of the ofi Choices for Change strategy, participate in global platforms and influence the wider sector agenda, while learning from other experts and stakeholders, and promoting ofi’s 

Role Overview

The Nutrition, Health & Engagement Expert is ofi's subject matter expert on nutrition, health, food security and well-being. The role is based on the conviction that healthy diets and thriving communities are essential foundations for resilient farming households, sustainable agricultural systems, and high-quality production.

Beyond technical expertise, the role focuses on translating nutrition and health knowledge into meaningful behaviour change at scale. Working across ofi's sourcing regions, the Expert will support the design, testing and continuous improvement of innovative farmer and supplier engagement approaches that strengthen the impact of ofi's Choices for Change strategy.

The position will play a key role in developing effective delivery models that reach both farmers directly engaged by ofi and those supported through local aggregators, cooperatives and third-party suppliers. Through partnerships, innovation and evidence-based behaviour change approaches, the Expert will help accelerate positive outcomes in nutrition, health and community well-being.

Key Deliverables

The responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Finalize the Go-Grow-Glow toolkit, including training-of-trainers materials, implementation guidance and practical support modules.
• Collaborate with ofi's partnerships team to identify and develop strategic technical and financing partnerships that support delivery of our ambitious Choices for Change targets.
• Identify, assess and promote innovative approaches that can strengthen behaviour change and improve programme effectiveness.
• Work with field teams to pilot, evaluate and refine scalable engagement and delivery models for farmers, aggregators and suppliers.
• Capture lessons learned and translate them into practical guidance to support continuous improvement across ofi programmes.
• Act as a thought leader on nutrition, health and behaviour change, bringing external insights and innovations into ofi's global sustainability programmes.

Requirements - Candidate Profile

QUALIFICATIONS

• Available from October - December 2026
• Deep expertise and a strong professional network in nutrition, public health, food security, behaviour change or related fields.
• Strong understanding of behaviour change and social marketing particularly in rural or agricultural contexts.
• Passion for sustainable agriculture, food systems, nutrition and community development.
• Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills, with the ability to engage, support and mobilise diverse teams across geographies and cultures.
• Entrepreneurial mindset, strong ownership and the ability to operate independently in a dynamic environment.
• Experience working with agri-businesses, smallholder farmers, cooperatives or rural development programmes would be highly desirable.Other skills would be highly valued:
  • On-the-ground experience and a good understanding of agri-business models and success factors are highly desireable
  • Leadership, teamwork skills, with a proactive, solution-oriented and innovative mindset
  • Critical thinking skills, organisational skills, and the ability to design and manage programmes independently
  • University degree in public health, behaviour change, social marketing, international development, global food security and nutrition, or other relevant domains
  • 3-4 years of relevant professional experience
  • French, Spanish, or other languages are highly desired
