Country Safety Manager

Job Description

The EHS head will be responsible for the implementation of ofi's EHS policies across the country. The incumbent must have a detailed understanding of all the applicable laws and regulatory guidelines form the EHS perspective for all the plant locations. The role requires cross-functional co-ordination as many of the locations do not have dedicated EHS resources. As the EHS Head, you will drive the legal compliance and the safety conscience of the organization along with the following key dimensions.

An experienced in Agribusiness, Manufacturing, FMCG, will remain important.

Implement and execute global ofi and regional safety programs for covered facilities and processes to grow safety culture of zero incidents and achieve world class performance in safety.

Advice on ofi safety standards /Country Safety laws content apllicability, provide guidance and support on the effective immplementation of them-exchange and capitalize best practices and assure adherence.

Provide coaching and mentoring to facility safety professionals and leadership teams

Visit facilities regularly to detect existing or potential accident hazards and determine corrective or preventive measures, do walk the talk and coach local leaders on safety principles and assure effective management of identified areas of imporevements.

Analyze current situations in safety performance (leading and lagging), support the facility teams on improvements

Analyze incidents happening and identify trends, common route causes that can shall be addressed bu facility overreaching actions and train and assure high quality incidents investigations, do follow up on corrective action

Drive the development of our safety profesionnals, cooperating with local leadership to ensure a solid support

Work directly with Regional Global Head of Safety to ensure alignment on safety initiatives

Track progess and publish results on current safety objectives and metrics

Establish and maintain safety cross auditing process, prepare the resources, and follow up on the execution of the audit pla as well as follow up on identified gaps and recommendations

Oversee and advice on compliance with Country and local safety rehulatory requirements

Strategic Effectiveness

• Draft and publish a safety manual detailing the basics of ofi's EHS policy and procedures. This should incorporate applicable regulatory guidelines. 
• Design a robust audit system comprising of policy/management/system/infrastructure/process/practice regarding EHS.
• Give inputs to project teams during greenfield/brownfield projects to build in EHS compliance during design stage itself
• Audit project sites for compliance of EHS guidelines and work with project teams to enable compliance
• Coordinate with relevant agencies to ensure compliance to all governing laws

Operational Effectiveness

• Bring out new/unknown risks in new and existing facilities for management to act
• Ensure all ofi facilities are compliant to local/international regulatory norms
• Document areas of improvement, push the envelope when it comes to environmental safety and safe workplace practices
• Identify opportunities to eliminate not just reduce workplace hazards

Organizational Effectiveness

• Undertake and document audits based on the published audit criterion. Work independently for the audits or constitute cross-functional audit teams to conduct effective audits.
• Follow up on action plans on identified gaps as brought out during audits
• Coach and train plant EHS personnel to develop them as EHS leaders in their plants
• Undertake training of plant personnel to ensure safety requirements and the right knowledge is transferred to the lowest level in the plant operations
